Odoo ESG’s approach is to reuse operational and people data already recorded across an ERP, then translate that activity into ESG metrics through configurable calculation rules. In practice, it combines an activity-data × emission-factor model with configurable compute methods (physical quantities or monetary values), aiming to keep ESG work closer to everyday business processes rather than a separate data pipeline. Some of its main features are:

• Carbon footprint reporting by scope — Generates a carbon footprint report in tCO₂e by scope, aligned with the GHG Protocol.

• Emission factor management — Supports physical (quantity-based) or monetary (amount-based) emission factors; factors can be added manually or imported from certified databases.

• Automatic factor assignment rules — Applies emission factors to activity data using rules based on product, partner and/or account, with defined priority logic and optional retroactive application.

• Multi-source activity data capture — Uses Accounting and Fleet as activity data sources, calculates employee commuting emissions via Fleet + Employees, and supports manual inputs for other activities.

• Carbon analytics views — Analyzes emissions by year, scope and activity type using visual graphics to help identify high-impact areas.

• Social metrics and initiatives — Tracks sex parity and pay gap from Employees/Payroll data, and manages “initiatives” using Project features (tasks, owners, deadlines, and estimated CO₂ savings).

Odoo ESG is built to sit close to finance: it turns existing accounting and operational records into emissions outputs, and it treats emission factors as governed data. Odoo’s carbon footprint report as aligned with the GHG Protocol and Bilan Carbone, using either quantity-based or spend-based conversion. Emission factors are structured by scope (with optional hierarchy), include an uncertainty field, and can be modeled as multiple greenhouse-gas lines (Kyoto gases with GWPs) that roll up to CO₂e. Odoo 19 also adds certified IPCC database integration alongside ADEME for France.
