A practical bridge between architects, LCA, and reporting

Updated by Onye Dike on December 30th, 2025
Anavitor LCA is a BIM-linked life-cycle assessment tool built mainly for architects and project teams using Archicad. Instead of treating carbon reporting as a late-stage checklist, it keeps results synchronized with design changes so teams can test material and construction options while decisions are still flexible. The workflow uses BIM/IFC quantities combined with EPD-based data and reusable “recipes”, then pushes LCA results back into the model for day-to-day design work. This approach suits Nordic projects where climate declarations or similar LCA submissions are becoming mandatory. It also supports contractors and developers who need quick, traceable project footprints.

Core Features

Anavitor LCA’s public materials describe a quantity-driven, BIM-connected LCA workflow that pulls from EPD data and “recipes”, rather than an input-output (I-O) or spend-based approach. Some of its main features are:

  • Two-way Archicad connection — Keeps LCA results flowing back into the BIM model as designs change.

  • EPD Finder and search — Lets users pick an EPD database, and search by EPD name, registration number, or supplier.

  • Recipe-based modelling — Uses reusable LCA “recipes”, plus tags and match recommendations to speed mapping.

  • Scenario exploration — Supports dynamic scenario visualization to compare design options and spot improvement areas.

  • Excel-based data intake — Imports subprojects/resources via an official template for inputs beyond BIM.

  • Reporting and templates — Provides customizable templates to standardize LCA reporting across projects.

Closing Insights

Anavitor grew out of a research project at IVL in Sweden and was shaped through early collaboration with Skanska, giving it deep roots in Nordic construction practice. In 2023, Nordic BIM Group acquired Anavitor LCA, bringing it into a broader suite of BIM tools and strengthening its reach across architecture, construction and real-estate workflows.

Where it fits best is the Nordic building market, where mandatory LCA and climate-declaration rules now apply across Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Iceland, with Finland’s requirements taking effect for permits from 1 January 2026. Alongside regulatory submissions, the platform also targets certification work such as LEED and BREEAM, while supporting scenarios and early benchmarking to compare design options.

Recent updates add an EPD Finder covering more than 150,000 EPDs and Excel import for projects that need inputs beyond BIM. Plans are published from €390/month, and Anavitor also offers customization, training and expert calculation services, including custom API integrations. This mix suits teams needing repeatable reporting.
