Our principle

Cut through the green tape

We don't push agendas. At Net Zero Compare, we cut through the hype and fear to deliver the straightforward facts you need for making informed decisions on green products and services. Whether motivated by compliance, customer demands, or a real passion for the environment, you’re welcome here. We provide reliable information. Why you seek it is not our concern.

Specright, a leader in specification management software, has announced the creation of the Sustainable Packaging Data Council, a new group focused on harmonizing data to improve packaging sustainability.

Many companies today face growing pressure to track and report sustainability data to meet evolving regulations in the U.S. and worldwide. The challenge often lies in unclear reporting requirements and difficulty accessing accurate packaging information, especially from suppliers.

The new council seeks to address this by developing standardized templates for data collection. These templates will help brand owners and other reporting entities comply with Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) laws, while also improving the quality and consistency of sustainability information.

“Protecting the planet goes beyond simply meeting regulatory checkboxes,” said Matthew Wright, Specright’s Founder and Executive Chairman, in a press release. “Through collaboration, companies can spend less time chasing data and more time innovating and creating real impact.”

Founding members include major retailers and brands such as Costco, Tyson Foods, Central Garden & Pet, Sonoco, and Atlantic Packaging, along with technology firms like Lorax EPI and Trayak, non-profits such as How2Recycle, and academic institutions like Michigan State University. Specright will serve as both the host and technology partner for the council.

Since the start of 2025, members have met each week to develop their first output, a template to guide companies through Oregon’s EPR reporting. The group plans to expand with additional templates for other states, while also sharing best practices for sustainability reporting across the industry.
