Greencells, a leading developer of solar power plants, has signed a landmark Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) agreement with energy company LEAG to deliver the Bohrau Solar Project, setting a new high point in its German portfolio.

The initial project scope calls for a capacity of 133 MWp, which, together with planned subsequent expansions, is expected to elevate Bohrau into one of Germany’s largest solar installations. Situated in Brandenburg’s Lausitz (Lusatia) region, long associated with open-pit coal extraction, the site embodies the region’s ongoing shift from fossil fuels to renewable energy.

As part of its design, the project area will integrate ecological features such as flowering strips, woodland plantings, and wildlife corridors to foster biodiversity.

LEAG, one of Germany’s prominent energy producers, is reorienting its portfolio toward renewables, battery storage, and hydrogen-compatible backup systems. This marks the second joint venture between Greencells and LEAG following their collaboration on the Haidemühl project, reinforcing LEAG’s confidence in Greencells’ EPC capabilities.

Construction is slated to begin in the fourth quarter of 2025, with completion of the first phase projected for the second half of 2026. Once complete, this undertaking adds to Greencells’ German track record of nearly 600 MWp across more than 50 completed projects.

Both parties anticipate jointly delivering what will become a benchmark for large-scale solar development in Germany.
