Cyanide

Cyanide refers to a group of chemical compounds containing the cyano group (–CN), which consists of a carbon atom triple-bonded to a nitrogen atom (C≡N).
This group can exist as inorganic salts (like sodium cyanide or potassium cyanide) or as organic compounds (such as acetonitrile).

Cyanide is known for its high toxicity and reactivity with metals, and it is used industrially in mining, electroplating, chemical manufacturing, and plastics production. However, it can be lethal to humans and animals, as it interferes with the body’s ability to use oxygen.
